In a previous post I shared the top ten reasons to vacation at Sandals Regency La Toc in Saint Lucia.
This week I had to share my top ten reasons to vacation in Jamaica at Sandal’s South Coast, and you will understand why with my number one reason. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

10. With a reef just 800 meters off the shore of South Coast, the water is always calm. It isn’t always clear, but you don’t have to worry about waves knocking your sunglasses off your face at South Coast. Another bonus is snorkeling at the reef! Just a quick boat ride out and your snorkeling the reef overlooking the resort. While you are enjoying the water sports, be sure to take a trilling ride on Big Mable.

9. If you are looking to say I do, or renew your vows, South Coast has a picturesque over the water wedding chapel with a glass floor aisle. Talk about coastal romance!
8. Foodies will be delighted with the offerings at South Coast. Start your day with Café de Paris with a freshly brewed expresso and crape. Grab lunch at the Jerk Shack or have a fire grilled custom-made pizza. Dinner will not disappoint, as every single meal we had was delicious.

7. Surrounded by at 500-acre nature preserve you feel like you have all of Jamrock to yourself. The acreage comes miles of coast you can walk. Grab a drink and walk past the Over the Water Bungalows to enjoy the peaceful waters of the South Coast.

6. Morning garden tour where you can get a custom cut bouquet of the beautiful flowers surrounding the resort grounds. Join Robert at 9:00am Monday – Friday for this opportunity to learn about the landscaping and the plant life local to the island.

5. They have a pool to fit your vibe. The Main pool is Jamaica’s largest zero entry pool with swim up bar. Main pool offers music during the afternoon and a few games and activities. The Dutch pool has been recently renovated and is calm and tranquil, the perfect scene for a relaxing day poolside. If you are looking for something more lively check out the French pool. They have a swim up bar, offer pool volleyball games and tons of organized activities and games.

4. South Coast’s General Manager, Adrian, is a real class act who cares about the history of his island. Every Friday morning, he offers an early morning hike to Scottish castle ruins for returning guests. You can also find him up early in the mornings walking the grounds and ensuring everything is up to his standards, which in my opinion, exceed that of Sandals. There is no doubt in my mind the experience you get at South Coast is a direct result from his leadership.

3. The Playmakers are the best hype crew you could ask for on vacation. They know how to get the party started and keep the good vibes going from mid-morning pool volleyball to nightly entertainment. They are talented individuals and each offer a different skill to the well-rounded entertainment team.

2. Latitudes over the water bar is a must! With 360-degree views and hammocks suspended over the water, it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset at South Coast. Our nightly routine is to transfer from the pool to Latitudes to watch the sunset before heading back to the room to get cleaned up for dinner.

1. It feels like home- Jamaica’s South Coast feels like home sweet home. The staff are genuine people who make it known that they are thankful that you are vacationing with them. Don’t be surprised when they start calling you by name, because before you know it you have made friends with the locals!
While I am certain not every Sandals location will make a top ten list in my blog, South Coast definitely earns this blog post. We are planning to return to South Coast for a third time in 2022 for all ten reasons above (plus many more). While there are still so many places I want to see, I still want to return home to South Coast. And, just like the home I know, she will be waiting for me with a big hug of hospitality and warm sunshine on my shoulders – along with a glass of champagne. I am counting the days until I can step through the threshold and hear “Welcome to Jamaica’s South Coast”.
